Meeting with supervisor (7/2)
February, 2022 | London, England
200 description of practice so far
I had a meeting with Mim after the crit session. We talked about the feedback that Mim and Sarah gave me on the crit session on Monday. Before this meeting, I sent Mim a 200 description of my practice so far. Therefore, in this meeting, she gave me feedback based on this description. It was actually about the survey of related practices. She told me I had to describe what they have done, how that is relevant to my work, how I could apply that to my work and I could include pictures as evidence.
Mim then gave me a really interesting example of how to write a literature review. She told me that when I thought of literature review, thought of it as a movie. So it began with a wide shot, a whole landscape-like setting in the context of the movie. Then the middle shot to my house (so I had to choose one house). I had only one house to base my story in and from there I could bring other things along (close up).
I read these two books that Mim recommended to me last month. The visual communication from theory to practice helped me a lot while writing my interim report.
Gathering old footage including photos, and videos from my old computer, phone, cloud, google drive, and external storage (I have a lot of footage I stored everywhere I could)

Meeting with supervisor (21/2)
Before this meeting, I sent a draft of my literature review to Mim to read through it first. She gave me some really helpful feedback. I intended to combine the introduction with the literature review. However, Mim advised me to separate it into two sections and she instructed me on how to write the introduction. She also gave me feedback on my literature review. I needed to give one or two sentences about perception at the beginning to give context. We also talked about methodology and surveys of related practice. She advised me to read Visual Methodology by Gillian Rose and Visual Ethnography by Sarah Pink. These two books would help me to write my methodology section. She helped me a lot by explaining the difference between the methodology part and the survey of related practice. Through this meeting with Mim, I decided to change my research question to focus more on Nomadic Overseas Asians.

I joined in this activity in which we had a chance to talk to the future teachers of the university. I asked them some questions related to my project. I had some really great perspectives and feedback for my project.

I had a chance to send another draft of my interim report to Mim for feedback. We had a quick discussion and there was one point in the report that I should mention which was about the reflexivity (reflection action cycle)
